My father Joseph Henry Ware served on the Dido from 1940 - 1945 as a S.P.O. Sadly he passed away in
1996, he was 88 years old and I`m sure will be remembered by some of the `younger` crew members who
served during that time. I have all my Dad`s papers and medals, he was my hero. I am pleased this
tribute to the Dido is on the internet as we should never forget all those who served on her.

Good website, nice to read some of the dits.
I served on the Dido in the early eighties as a L/S Radar and had great time including playing rugby
for the ship, which was a superb time playing all over the Med. Left about 83 to go on Petty
Officers Course at Dryad and after passing I had the pleasant suprise of training the Kiwis who were
taking over the Dido/Southland. Had many a good night with them down the Golden Lion in Southwick
having a good old sing along. Made some good friends and even went to the commissioning which was
slighly different from ours to say the least.

Anyway "Hi" to all and keep safe
Mac McMurchie

Hi, found this site by accident but glad I did. My father, Leslie Harrison served as a radioman on
the Dido during the second world war. Not sure from when, but until at least 1945 in both the Med
and the Artic. He has been living in Australia since 1960. Would love to here from anyone who knew
him during those days.

Regards,
Rod Harrison.

I had the pleasure to serve on HMS Dido as an exchange officer fron January 80 till July 81. It was
one of the best times in my naval career. She was a very happy ship, and we made some great trips,
splatting the world with our Dido Keep Smiling stickers. It would be nice to get in contact with
some old ship-mates.
